Welcome to the new Twechar community website.

Hosted by the Twechar Regeneration Group (TRG), this website aims to keep both residents and visitors, up-to-date on everything happening here in Twechar.

The TRG comprises the local community, East Dunbartonshire Council, Communities Scotland, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, British Waterways, Scottish Enterprise Dunbartonshire and voluntary organisations. In November 2004, the TRG commissioned a regeneration masterplan which sets out the strategy for breathing new life into the village.

Not only does this ambitious and wide-ranging project aim to provide good quality housing, it will also help improve community, leisure, education, training and health facilities as well as supporting new employment opportunities.

Since the launch of the masterplan document, there have been a number of significant developments in Twechar. In October 2006, the then First Minister Jack McConnell officially launched the village’s Healthy Living and Enterprise Centre and the following month the Council approved the proposed Twechar housing project.

New office and warehouse units have also been created within the existing Twechar Business Park and a social enterprise Environmental Training Project has been established which will provide jobs and training for local people.

We will use this website to keep you posted on any new developments and local events but we would also like to hear from members of the community. If you would like to contribute in any way to the Twechar website then please contact us.
