Situated on the banks of the Forth and Clyde Canal, Twechar lies between the towns of Kirkintilloch and Kilsyth in East Dunbartonshire, and is approximately 14 miles (22 km), northeast of Glasgow.
Twechar is easily accessible from other towns in East Dunbartonshire and North Lanarkshire and is within easy reach of Cumbernauld, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Stirling.
It is close to the A80/M80 Glasgow-to-Stirling trunk road which provides quick access to both the M8 and M73/74 motorways.
