Twechar Facility In Line For Top Award!

Twechar Healthy Living and Enterprise Centre has been nominated for a leading architectural award.

The Centre, which is playing an important role in the project to regenerate Twechar, has been included in Architecture Scotland’s Best New Buildings Awards, in the sport and leisure category.

Architecture Scotland asked architects to nominate buildings they have completed over the last 12 months and received well over 100 submissions across a range of categories.

As well as the architectural community, members of the public can also participate and the top voted buildings will be put forward for inclusion in this year's Architecture Scotland Annual which will be distributed to 5000 individuals.

The refurbishment of the Twechar Recreation Centre into the Healthy Living and Enterprise Centre is the first step in the wider redevelopment of the village and has been warmly welcomed by the local people.

John Gray, Twechar Regeneration Manager, commented:

“The positive response which the project to refurbish the Centre has received has been extremely welcome and this recognition from the wider Scottish community can only assist in further raising awareness of our regeneration plans for Twechar.

“This is excellent news for the village and I’d like to offer my congratulations to all those involved.”

Further information about the awards is available at www.architecturescotland.co.uk.
