JOHN SWINNEY VISITS TWECHAR
Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Sustainable Growth, John Swinney MSP, has visited Twechar Healthy Living and Enterprise Centre (THLEC) as part of a tour of local authorities.
The visit provided Mr Swinney with the opportunity to find out more about Twechar Regeneration proposals from partners on the Twechar Regeneration Group and also to meet the Board members and staff of Twechar Community Action (TCA) who are responsible for delivering a series of community programmes for residents.
Council Leader Rhondda Geekie, who accompanied Mr Swinney on his visit, was pleased that he had the opportunity to visit the THLEC, one of the most successful projects in East Dunbartonshire’s ongoing regeneration plans.
She said, “We were delighted to welcome the Cabinet Secretary to East Dunbartonshire and to demonstrate to him some of the real success stories in this area.”
As well as meeting Twechar Regeneration Manager John Gray, Mr Swinney was also able to chat with THLEC centre manager Sandra Sutton and some of the young people involved in local projects and youth groups.
John Gray said, “I’m very pleased that Mr Swinney found time in his busy schedule to visit the Centre. We were able to let him see what has already been achieved and outline some of our future plans for Twechar to him.”
